Happy Halloween FCB style!

Man, where did October go? This past week was so busy! I wish I could say I was busy doing fun and exciting things, but sadly I was just subbing, tutoring, and writing a midterm. Blah.

Last weekend, Ian and I met some friends in Denver for the Colorado Ballet’s Dracula. It was great! However, if you ask Ian, he would say that Act I was good, Act II was a snore and totally pointless, and Act III was fantastic. I would have to agree!

Here we are all dressed up for the show:

It’s Pumpkin Huntin’ Time: Hittin’ up a Local Pumpkin Patch!

One thing you absolutely must know about me: I am obsessed with the month of October and all things that happen to fall (get it…fall! hehe) in my month October! For this reason, I am in love with pumpkins, candy, autumn, and Halloween! Thus, when Ian asked what I wanted to do for my birthday, the only reasonable response seemed to be: go to a pumpkin patch, of course!

Buttercream Cupcakery: Free cupcakes on your birthday!

Who can say no to a free birthday cupcake? Certainly not me!

Buttercream Cupcakery not only has a completely delightful and whimsical name, they will also send a coupon for a free cupcake on your birthday! I think it made my whole day. And the Mason store (their main store) is just completely adorable!

The hardest part about getting a free cupcake coupon is selecting the free cupcake…(no, this photo was not staged. I really have that much trouble making a decision when it comes to dessert!).

After much deliberation, I . . . → keep reading

Penrose Apple Day Festival

My Saturday was so exciting I had to split it into two posts! I can hardly believe it myself. I’m usually not so exciting all in one day.

After the race on Saturday, Ian and I slowly made our way back to Denver. My friend Ashlee mentioned an Apply Day Festival happening in Penrose, Colorado, which included FREE apple pie. Needless to say, we are definitely down for FREE anything…especially apple pie!

Ian and I were expecting a small little stand on the side of the road with a few apple pies for sale. Boy, were . . . → keep reading

Running the Royal Gorge Rim to Rim 5k!

Saturday, I ran the Rim to Rim 5k with my dear friend Ashlee. The race was tough, but the finish line was a gorgeous sprint across the Royal Gorge bridge! I’m a tad afraid of heights, so I hauled my buns across that bridge and ended up with a PR of 27:08!

I have been casually training the past three weeks. I ran three times a week: 2 miles on Tuesdays, 2.5 miles on Thursdays, and 3 miles on Sundays. That’s about the extent of my training. As it turns out, that seemed to work out pretty . . . → keep reading
