[Get Moving] Weekly Training Update: Week 1 Complete!

Week one of my training is complete and it went really well overall. Here’s the rundown:

Monday: Yoga!

I had such a great class. I was finally able to conquer side crow (no small feat if you ask me). I’ve been doing yoga consistently for over three months now, and I am definitely hooked. My practice is more focused and I am so much stronger!

Tuesday: 3 mile run

First official training run! It was, um, a little harder than anticipated. The wind was blowing like crazy, and I made the mistake of bringing Ava. After mile 2, she . . . → keep reading

[Get Moving] And the Training Begins!

My training for the Colfax Marathon 5K begins tomorrow! I’m super excited to be back on a training plan. After several months off, it will be nice to follow a routine again. I am really looking forward to the discipline.

In the eight weeks leading up to the Colfax Marathon 5K, I will be following Hal Higdon’s Intermediate 5K Training plan. I checked out several other training plans and found Hal Higdon’s to be the best for my schedule and my goals. The plan has me running 5 times a week, but I may choose to do . . . → keep reading

Great Plates $25.25: Lulu Asian Bistro

During the first two weeks of March, Fort Collins has been offering a dining tradition similar to Denver’s $52.80 (but, thankfully, a little less expensive). Thirty downtown FoCo restaurants are participating in the local tradition, called Great Plates, and offering evening dining specials for $25.25! For those of us on a budget, that is music to my wallet’s ears.

After perusing the participating restaurant list and menu options, I was a little dismayed that many of the restaurants were charging $25.25 per person. I realize that is a great deal to many folks out there, but to me that . . . → keep reading

A Romp of a Weekend: Romp to Stomp Snowshoe Series

As promised, I am providing a recap of the awesome Romp to Stomp Snowshoe Race.

The race (yes, we did in fact race!) was so much fun! But, before I gush about our amazing attempt to run in snowshoes, I also want to share the fun we had leading up to the big event.

Friday night, after a day of subbing, I met my friend Sarah at a park-and-ride in Littleton and we headed up I-70 (yes, we’re that brave!) to meet our friend Ashlee in Dillon for pre-race festivities.

I was so excited . . . → keep reading

[Get Moving] My “Train” is Back on Track!

Long time no see! I know I’ve been MIA for a while now…my apologies! I’ve had a lot on my plate the past two months, but things are beginning to ease up this week (my long-term sub position ended yesterday, and I’m submitting my Master’s project at the end of this week). With so much going on, I haven’t been out exploring Colorado, nor have I been moving as much as I would like. All that is about to change!

Today, on a whim, I signed up for the Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon 5K via Denver Daily Deals. Several of . . . → keep reading
