Dog Days of Summer

Summer seems to be flying by at rapid speed. I can’t believe Friday is July 1st! Where exactly did June go? I’ve had trouble trying to fit in everything on my summer to do list, but what I’ve struggled with most is taking advantage of the beautiful weather and spending more time outside.

My work schedule is all over the place. Since I tutor, I work in small chunks spread throughout the day, which makes planning difficult. One thing that has helped me get outside consistently is finding a way managing Ava’s crazy energy.

Weekly Training Update: Avoiding Injury

So you may have noticed that this “weekly update” is a week overdue. While I would normally blame it on slacking off or being too busy, there is actually a valid reason for my tardiness: avoiding injury.

I don’t get to see Ashlee nearly as often as I’d like, so it was nice to catch . . . → keep reading

Training for a TRI

I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t nervous about completing my first ever triathlon. Beyond my nervousness for the actual competition, I’m most anxious about training! I spent a lot of time researching various tri training programs and felt pretty intimidated (and overwhelmed!) by many of the plans. I’m not a super athlete, I”m just a beginner!

After several days of unsuccessful searches, I checked out my standby for running training plans: Hal Higdon.

I was pleasantly surprised to find an 8-week Triathlon training plan on Higdon’s site. Since I have found a lot . . . → keep reading
