One Step Back & Two Steps Forward

After being knocked down at the dog park and injuring my back, I’ve *finally* decided not to complete the Outdoor Divas Sprint Triathlon. While I am hugely disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in my first tri this summer, I know it’s a wise decision. My back will surely thank me later!

About two weeks ago, I realized that I wasn’t going to have enough time to properly train for my first triathlon. Sure, I could spend the next three weeks pounding out workouts and trying to get back to my pre-injury shape, but I . . . → keep reading

Ecology Park, Canon City

Our three-year wedding anniversary was spent relaxing with good friends and enjoying the adorable town of Canon City. When I told the teller at my bank that I was heading down to Canon to visit a friend, he grinned and asked for clarification: “Visiting a friend who lives there or is incarcerated there?” Sheesh! Three Years and Counting!

Yesterday, Ian and I celebrated three lovely years of marriage! Our first few years together have been turbulent, exciting, challenging, and educational.

Enjoying the Last Remaining Moments of Summer

In less than two weeks I will be back at school – but as a teacher this time, not a student or a substitute! And while I’m anxious to be in my classroom teaching, I’m also really enjoying my last few weeks of summer vacation. I’ve been out enjoying friends, family, and Fort Collins trying to make the most of my last week-and-a-half of “freedom.”

Last weekend, I helped host a baby shower for one of my very best friends, Kelsey. It was certainly hot, but such a fun time! I organized onesie decorating, which turned out to be completely . . . → keep reading

Weekly Training Update: A Tough Decision to Make

So you probably noticed that I skipped yet another week of triathlon training updates. Ironically, right after I posted the last update, on avoiding injury, I was injured. Again.

This time, the injury came in the form of a completely random act, not over-working at the gym. Sadly, I got hurt at the dog park. Yep, you read that right. My injury came from the dog park where we take Ava every single day.

As usual, we were loitering near the water hoping to coax Ava into swimming. As usual, Ava was running sprints around the water . . . → keep reading
